THE DEN - HOME AS A REFUGE
THE DEN is an upholstery and fabrics brand based in the United Arab Emirates, built around a simple idea: home as a refuge. A place shaped over time through objects, textures, rituals and memories, where comfort becomes something deeply personal. Rather than approaching the identity through the expected visual codes of the upholstery category, TRICOTA began with a different question: how should the brand feel? Intimacy, warmth, craftsmanship and memory became the foundation for a visual language designed to feel tactile, human and lived-in. The identity combines collage, scanned flowers, paper textures, stitches, embossing and subtle imperfections. These elements preserve traces of the creative process and introduce a sense of materiality into the system, creating a dialogue between contemporary design and the character of something made, touched and experienced. This approach extends across typography, photography, color and art direction, building a flexible visual universe rather than a fixed aesthetic. The system was conceived to evolve alongside THE DEN as the brand expands across different upholstered pieces, fabrics and new collections. The same principles were carried into the digital experience through a Shopify e-commerce platform, translating the warmth and tactile character of the identity into a clear and functional online environment. The result is a brand that avoids representing upholstery literally. Instead, THE DEN builds its identity around everything that surrounds it: comfort, intimacy, character and belonging.
